Exploding Radio
Interesting take on why broadcast radio is in trouble. One snippet that rang true for me was "Since 1996, radio's decay has led to an entire generation of listeners who have essentially written off radio (at least, when it comes to music)".
It happened well before 1996.
I'm a big music fan, and I remember turning off radio when I was, oh, 12. I'm not sure I even own a (non-internet powered) radio.
However, I did pick up on radio again when I lived in Britain thanks to the BBC. John Peel, especially, because he broke new and interesting music. Although by that time, I was listening to it streamed.
And that is the future of radio. Niche, specialised and on-demand. Not bland, commoditised, pre-packaged crap.
