Start A Blog - Get Rich Quick!

There's been a lot of talk about why marketers should start blogs as some sort of fast track machine to high search rankings.

Ignore it all. It's bullshit.

Marketers should start a blog if they have a desire to communicate. To converse. To connect.

Thinking of a blog as a content producing technology is to miss the point. It's about tone, not text. It's about talking and listening. It takes a lot more time and energy than a conventional seo approach if your goal is to attain search rankings. How many blogs do you see here?

Here's a question for those marketers thinking of a starting a blog: what is more important - inbound or outbound links?
