Flat World

Interesting article from the NY Times (hopefully this link, appropriated from partner=rss userland, will point you to the right page) talks about the rise of India and China in the global marketplace.

Hmmm....while it is true that happens for disiplines that are easily portable, like call-centres and coding, that happens less easily for disiplines that require a higher level of interaction with people. Like marketing. I, for one, get taken a lot more seriously when I turn up and shake peoples' hands, hence part of my reason for relocating to the UK shortly.

Nonetheless, the internet certainly flattens the planet. I'm writing this in New Zealand. You're reading this where you are. You send me mail from where you are, and I receive it where I am a millisecond later.
