Google halts the scanning of books
Google halts the scanning of copyright books - for the meantime, I should think. There's been a bit of commentary about how this will play out.
My two cents: when it is shown that there is enough in it for publishers, it will happen. Remember the video business? The studios HATED that, and there was much flapping about copyright, and control, and ownership. Mostly hot air. What it was really all about was the protection of the bottom line.
The same will happen with the book industry. Genie. Bottle. Out. Deals will be done.
