Search Is A Commodity (Again)

He's right about search as a function - there is little real difference between the search results of the big three.

However, I disagee about a low switching cost. There is a high switching cost - habit - and that isn't to be underestimated. For years, MSN had big three search market share largely due to user habit brought on by default settings, which is another point Nicholas makes in the article, but from a different direction.

I agree that Google is going to need to get more of a lock - and methinks there will be BIG news on that front before too long. There simply has to be....
