The Web Site Metaphor Is DOA

We all grew up on it.

A web "site" is a a collection of pages belonging to a "domain". Kinda like a magazine - it has a title, a page of contents, editorial coherence (mostly), a beginning and an end. You go from site to site like you go from magazine to magazine.

But those days are coming to an end.

The basic web unit is no longer a site, or even a page. It's a piece of data. And that piece of data can appear anywhere.

Like in Google Base.

The trick is to get most people coming to you to get their organised units of data.

I think Google has that covered....
