NTT claims to have developed a high speed search engine capable of instant indexing.

And finally today, Ray Ozzy, the main brain behind corporate knowledge management software, Lotus Notes, starts a weblog. We've been a long time fan of Ray's inovative philosophy and views so this is definately one to watch.

W3C has published XHTML specification 1.0, the Second Edition. On a related note, Alistapart.com shows how to create your own XML markup.

There is speculation that Inktomi may be announcing a change in operations soon. Vague? You bet. Rumour has it that MSN is expecting "a lot more" of their search suppliers in light of Overture's stellar performance.

We're back. We had a great holiday, but now it's time to get back down the mine. Let's see what has been happening in the world of search...

Google nets "a seven-figure" advertising pact with Lloyds TSB Insurance. At a time when Internet marketing spends are supposedly down, this is a major vote of confidence in the power of search engine marketing.

AskJeeves releases a search toolbar plug-in.

Inktomi staffer starts posting to webmaster discussion forums. Are the search engines finally realizing that webmasters should be courted, not vilified?

Microsoft views Google as a competitor. No kidding. Thanks to Webmasterworld for the tip.

And finally today, a site that links to those sites that don't want people linking to them. We're wondering just how self reflexive the web can get before something explodes.
