Webmasterworld reports that MSN may be alternating between partial and exact matching. Perhaps this has something to do with MSN trying to integrate the Looksmart paid results. Partial matching tends to benefit the Inktomi listings, which are usually third tier behind Overture and Looksmart ads.

AOL/Inktomi falls victim to cunning new spam trick.

Ask Jeeves continues it's makeover. Some say it is now more "Google-like" in appearance. See what you think.

England vs Brazil tonight in what promises to be the game of the tournament. We will, of course, be in the pub early to witness this grand event :)

NPR really don't understand this new fangled internet thing. They demand you request permission to link to them. We've linked to their "request to link form", just to be helpful ;)

New, free peer-to-peer anti-spam filter called Cloudmark. This one looks like it might very well work.

And finally today, very cheeky domain name parking.

Google update their search appliance. Google offers an "in-the-box" search solution for the enterprise. Based on a linux server, the Google Search Appliance offers a range of solutions from 300,000 documents upwards. Also answers the question: what colour is Google? The answer is yellow.

Interesting article on tracking search engine marketing success. How a board game manufacturer worked out which keywords worked best and which didn't work at all.

The London Webloggers tube map.

Read instead an interview with top web designer Todd Purgason and find why he'd like to tie Jakob down and tattoo Praystation on his forehead.

Looking at the newswire we find out the one thing that Google is really slow on. An IPO listing.

Danny Sullivan's newsletter Search Engine Conference Watch (hehe) mentions that Looksmart "aims for (those with) the big budgets". Now there's a surprise.

There's an awful lot of bloggers linking to up-and-coming search engine www.alltheweb.com. Looks like the word is getting out that there are other search engines beside Google.

We've had requests from many of our readers (in fact, one request from our other reader, Sophie) that we should provide a weekly newsletter. We're onto it. Send us an e-mail and we'll let you know when it's available.

And finally today, 15 answers to creationist nonsense.
