Inktomi release WebSearch 9. Initial reaction has been mixed. We'll wait and see.

A search engine that locates communities? "Page builders can link anywhere. But they don't, Gary Flake, of the NEC Research Institute in Princeton, and his colleagues have found. Instead, pages congregate into social groups that focus most of their attention on each other". Indeed.

There was some nashing of teeth over Ralph's interview on Friday. Whether you agree with Ralph's approach or not, the interview helped raise pertinent questions. The overwhelming response has been "fascinating".

Study reveals that most searchers are happy with search engine results, but will change search engines if they don't find what they are looking for.
